Sometimes, the glue-botton remains enabled. Then glueing is only possible with the scene editor.
How can I reactivate it? |

Hi,
I am not sure if you mean it remains enabled, or remains disabled?
Note that there are two glue functions (in tS6.6), one is glue as sibling, another is glue as child. They will sometimes disable when that particular type of gluing is not available.
For instance, if you use CTRL and click to select multiple objects at the same time, it is possible to glue these together as siblings (that is, they all exist on the same level in the hierarchy). However the glue as child is disabled since you cannot glue them together in that way (then one selected object would be "on top" as the parent, and others below as children, but there is no way of knowing which of the multi selected object should be on top, which beneath, etc - so the tool is greyed out and disabled).
Not sure if that is what you mean though. I am not sure about a tool always being enabled as you say - if the above isnt it, could you provide description and screenshot, then we can give more help.
EDIT: If you really do mean the glue tool is still enabled, then click on the Object Select arrow, or simply press space to activate the object select tool, and the glue is disabled and you return to normal functionality rather than glue functionality.
Thanks!

I use TS7.1. ...This is what I always tried, but the glue button remains active
after I clicked on the object select arrow. The button remains active even after reloading the scene. It happened not always but more and more. I failed to make a screenshot. |

Ah, then nothing like the problem I thought you were having! I haven't seen or heard of this, seems very unusual. Will forward it along to development team.
Unsure of what to try, not having run into it - I would try lots of things, swapping Layouts, switching from Modeler to Player and back, entering point edit, reset to default context icon, turning off the bridge (or turning on the bridge), closing and restarting, and deleting the .cfg file if none of that worked.
Those are just things I try if I run into anything odd interface wise. Posting link to developers now, in case they have any ideas.
Thanks!

Thank you. So I will try to repeat what I done to get this behaviour.
And I will try to delete the .cfg. Sometimes I thought it could be a kind
of timing problem. The glue unglue- function is now very slow and if the
bridge wants to update the windows while the glueing is not finished...maybe. |

You might have a point with the Bridge, hierarchies can take a long time to send across the bridge, so you might be right, it may be that it is still being "beamed over" the bridge and not stuck at all.
If you can reproduce the steps to show the problem, I would try exactly that - one test with the Bridge off, and another with it on, and see.

Hello TomG
It happened again. I can not say why. I have 7 layers. And tried to glue
some object together. Then suddenly the button stays on. Bridge is off.
(sorry for turning the picture) |

If you have the scene saved prior to the glue icon remaining on, then please send it to us, with a description of the steps you follow when the glue icon sticks. Tracking a problem is always best done with a scene :)
I am assuming that this is reproducable, ie the same steps always lead to the same result?
You can email the scene to me at thomas@caligari.com, and it will only be used for test purposes by our development team, so any models of yours etc will be quite safe.
HTH!
Tom
EDIT - PS: Have you tried using the Link Editor to glue the objects instead, using the 3D Encapsulate tool? This is sometimes more reliable in tS7 I have noticed. Simply select the objects in the LE and then use the Encapsulate tool there. |
