There is a problem with the toolbars in Dual view. The LW Marerials icon has changed and the all of the icons in the Modeling toolbar have changed. Note also that the Render toolbar has been renamed to PhotoRenerOptions. Also there is now an additional toolbar named Modeling(Small).

I have seen this before. Those icons are very, very old versions. The last time I noticed it a tester had loaded a beta over an older version and the default.ctx somehow stored the older icons, but this was sorted long ago.

One for developer's to answer I am afraid...

This, tied in with other errors, does raise the question about the install process - there is the possibility that an old version is indeed still in there somewhere and interfering.

0. Back up any work saved in tS7 libraries by exporting those libraries to a folder outside the tS installation folder.

1. Uninstall tS, and V-Ray if installed

2. Delete the tS folder so that no trace is left. Configuration files can be left behind by the uninstall since they change or are new since install.

3. Now reinstall, which will be guaranteed clean as all files were wiped out :)

Given the number of unusual errors we are seeing here, this sounds like something I would recommend trying as a first resort, to ensure the system is clean and has no mix of 7.0 and 7.1 on there.

HTH!

I agree with Tom, but to be absolutely sure I remove all traces of TS7 from the machine (including those in the registry under HKEY Current User/software or HKEY Local Machine/software). Your choice of course but this method has ensured I have no problems with old installation files...:o

Splinters: Please note that I have uninstalled trueSpace7.0, trueSpace7.01, trueSpace7.1 from the Add and Remove programs and completely deleted the trueSpace7 folder. I have also deleted the
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE\Caligari trueSpace7 and the
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE\Caligari Rosetta Platform keys from the Registry.
Uninstall removed the
My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Caligari trueSpace7 keys and also all of the Sub keys from the
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE\Caligari trueSpace7 key, this key was empty but I deleted as well.

Correct me if I am wrong since the Uninstall removes all information from these keys, is really necessary to delete these keys when I have to reinstall?
Are there other keys that I need to address?

When I use the windows uninstall, it leaves the C:\trueSpace folder and in the registry it leaves references to Caligari trueSpace 7 and Caligari Rosetta Platform. I am not even sure they are necessary to uninstall but I found during beta testing it was often better to completely clear out such stuff.

I also reboot before running TS7 after install even if I do not install Vray.

I would suggest sending your details to Tom if none of this has worked..:o

Splinters: Okay and thanks! I too rebooted and deleted those keys. I also re downloaded the tS71_web_inst.exe and reinstalled. Still able to recreate same problems. I can not believe that I am the only one with this problem. Any way notified Caligari and hope for a solution soon.

I am using DualView and not seeing the older versions of the Icons. Thanks Paul for the outstanding Icons by the way.

trueblue if you want, you can try my duallayout (modified DualView), it is somewhat different but at least maybe see if the toolbars are restored to what they should be.

Noko: Thank you for trying to help. Never used a RsLyt before. I tried to import your File and I get kicked out of trueSpace faster than you can load the Bucket Excavator. Could you send your DualView.rsl file or whatever you call it, anyway same as the RsLyt file you sent in rsl format. Thanks! I can not believe I am the only person that can recreate these problems.

hmmmm, that doesn't sound good, should work if go to Layout library and right click inside of library and select "Import Layout" with unzipped file. Looks like Stan figured it out why the old toolbar pops up since layout contains two versions it appears. Now why it pops up for you is another mystery ;). Now DualView has problems for me if my monitors are set up with Primary on the right and secondary on the left. Seems to work best if Primary monitor is on the Left, for me that is the only way it works.

If I remember right, custom toolbars, not the prototype toolbars, are saved in the Layout. That way if you make cutom toolbars for a layout, it will be saved and only show when that layout is used. The normal toolbars are prototypes which if you change will affect the toolbar even in other layouts if used again but will not be saved in the layout but in the "Toolbar Prototype Encapsulator" (just go all the way up in the hierarchy in the LE and you can find this object if you are interested). So my best guest was when this layout was saved originally it had a custom toolbar inserted into it. Now if this seems confusing well probably because I am confused :o.

I don't use DualView, but I do have my Primary on the right and Secondary on the left. It might be worth letting the Devs know that there's some people that have their system setup like that. :)
