I started with tS3 when they first started to give it away - I was looking for something to use seeing as the program I had grown up with (Imagine) was defunct. Anyway in vers 3.1 I noticed that you couldn't do fog or atmospheric depth over an alpha channelled flat shape. The rendering ignored the alpha channel and treated it as a flat rectangle. When I got 6.6 I found it still does that.

It seems version 7 still can't do a render where depth, fog etc treat the transparent sections of the alpha channel as non-existent. Replacing distant objects with flat "cutouts" is a pretty standard practice I thought. so could this get fixed?

(BTW if I am incorrect about this I'd love to be instructed on how to get it to work!!)

It's a limitation of the LightWorks rendering engine, so there isn't anything Caligari could do themselves. I know it's been mentioned more than a few times and LightWorks still has the problem. Makes me wonder if LightWorks can't do anything about it in their engine.
