Hello

I am having serious problems with TS7 . I would like to use it and see if I can create better work than 6.6 but it will not function properly. Maybe its my system but here are my specs. P4 3.0 Ghz HT ,1 gig ddr ram,ati radeon X600 256ddr. Should this run this software?

If I load 6.6 and import a model with say 50,000 poly count . I can rotate the model edit the model switch back and forth from point edit and object mode with ease and smooth silky movement of the model or the view!

If I load 7 and import the same model it takes like 3 times the time to load the model then once I finally found the move and rotate tools I cant move or rotate the model. If I drag my mouse with either button down and the rotate or any tool selected the mouse moves and then 45 seconds later the model reacts to the movement of the mouse. I cannot work like this. If I make more than 2 or three movements without waiting for the program to catch up it will never catch up then I have to force it to shut down.

I don’t know what to do. I see others here posting good things about 7 but I cant use it to see for myself the good things about it. I got so frustrated with it I just went back to 6.6 and only today tried to open 7 again. It seems to me that my system should run this software. It has run max 7 demo’s and all demos that are out there , full versions of Brice, Vue 5 infinite , light wave, and others loaded down with poly count that should lag any pc with ease and smooth transitions. I purchased this version with hopes that I could collaborate with other users and learn how to better produce good content for my projects ect . Well you see my dilemma.

When I close the program it says true space 7 beta at the bottom for a second before it closes. Maybe I got a corrupt download. Or a bad install. I haven’t tried to uninstall and reinstall it maybe that will help?

Any help from you folks here would be appreciated greatly.

Thx respectfully

Turn off the bridge then load your object and try rotating it in the Model view. Is that faster than before? I assume your model view in tS7 has the same settings as tS6.x is using (DirectX/OpenGL, wire/transparent/solid mode etc.)

The trueSpace7beta window you see when shutting down is a human error - the text wasn't changed for that window. What you have is a release version.

Hey I reinstalled and it seems to be ok. Still lags a bit with some very high detailed models but not with the ones I made in version 6.6. around 40,000 poly count. They all have a hard time with some of the more detailed models the were not made by me.

Yes I was using open Gl in model view and was still freezing. Is that my problem ? I dont have enough ram to run the solftware with the new settings in use. Cuzz I can add another gig of ram in no time.

I have light at the end of the tunnel

 cant wait to get deep into 7.

DanX, you may also try to load the object/scene and immediately save it from trueSpace7. You would then go to new scene and then load it again. I am curious what this process does for you. It should in theory be better for you.

Please advise.

I tried the saving it a scene thing didnt help. then after much tool finding.

The program worked ok until I loaded a texture from the LW library .

I applied it to a primitive sphere. Rendered the object and it had no bump just color. The bump showed up in the material editor but not on the preview in the editor. Clicked one to many times on the object selection icon on the toolbar and it locked up again. Had to force to shut down with task manager.

Not sure what the problem is but its beyond me to fix it. Any more suggestions ?

Are you moving between Player and Model aspects? If not did you try to switch the bridge off temporarily? Which phororender do you use?

I am sorry it took me so long to reply it took me a long time to get the model out of the startup scene in the program. Every time I started the program it would lock up because it loaded the high poly model I saved in the scene.

I have tried both light works and virtual light under preferences.

I cant find anyway to turn the bridge on or off.

I switched to player view and right clicked on the screen no option box or icon was opened to turn off anything. I have looked under each of the drop down boxes on the render toolbar at the top right of the interface. I can find the bridge in the PDF manual but not how to access the option box to turn it on or off.basicaly I have right clicked on everything I can find to click on and no box like in the pdf manual. Searched for it in the icon helper came up emepty.

The program will now open without locking up but I have no object loaded in the scene.

to find desktop panel [the one with the bridge on/ off ] open LE with an empty scene..press yellow triangle next to 2d twice on LE..find preferences panel there..click yellow triangle on the preference panel..you should find the desktop panel now in LE..if you click on the desktop panel it will appear in the objects section of stack view..[middle icon of five on title bar of stack view, left of minimize button..]

Hi all,

The bridge option is easier to find than that :)

The right hand panel in default view holds the libraries when you start that layout. However, you can change what it shows using the icons on top - the leftmost icon displays the Properties version of that side panel.

In here you see the Properties of whatever window you are working in. If it is the LE, you get the properties for the LE. Click in the Player, and its the properties for the Player. Right click on the Render Scene icon, and there are the properties for rendering.

No matter which view you select, the top selection is the general one for the running of trueSpace. The first item is the Bridge setting. See screen grab :)

HTH!

I have it now so it will run long enough to attempt to turn off the switch.

This is what i have so far. lol I am stupid because this seems to be hard for me

I have found what I think is the desktop preferences in a dropdown list shown in the screen gab's below. Now when I choose to open desktop preferences nothing happens. Its kindof like parts of the program are missing.

Startup Menu
The startup menu (accessible by holding the CTRL key while starting trueSpace) allows you to start
trueSpace in any real time mode, as well as start a “clean” trueSpace session without automatically loading
any stored configurations and projects.

Use default configuration: If this setting is checked, then trueSpace starts without loading any
stored configurations (from the truespace.cfg file), projects/libraries, and default scene. This
mode is suggested when having problems loading the previously created configuration.

generated a new space. didn’t help there is still nothing in the box where the desktop preferences is supposed to be.

Could my download have been corrupted ?

I own Vue 5 infinite as well and it automatically checks for updates. So a few days ago I was working on a scene and the program starts to download a new update. When it was ready I installed the update and an error message pops up saying the update was corrupted with some instructions on reinstalling the software. I tried to just remove the update but the program suddenly became very heavy ,slow to render, very sluggish like TS7 is now. But after reinstalling it and downloading the update outside of the software interface and installing manually it works awesome big time sweet. Maybe I should try and download version 7 again and reinstall it?

Do you have Norton's running during your installs?

Actually, since Steinie mentioned it, you should check if you have other software that may affect installations - for example Spybot - if you have its TeaTimer function turned on [if you have, you'll see its icon in the system tray - looks like a little program window with a grey padlock on the left of it], depending on your settings - it can prevent changes from being made to the registry [new entries, etc]. I have mine set to ask me each time a prog wants to add/change/delete a reg entry, but if you had it on automatic it could definitely cause probs.

:jumpy: Hello

I Think the problem has been solved. I uninstalled a second time. this time 7 did not show in my add/remove programs in control panel. I went to the truespace 7 folder on HD ran the uninstaller from there. removed the manual the same way. Deleted the folder itself. cleaned the registry. Downloaded the web exe again from your site while turning off all other software except for Norton. Then

disconnected from the web, ran the TS7 installer, opened the program found the desktop preferences right where it was supposed to be.

Turned the bridge off. it seems better I will keep working on the settings at least I can move thru the interface without crashing the program.

thx for the help.
