Hi guys n gals

Am continuing my learning of various aspects of TS workflow and methology, having come from other apps.

Now reached subD's and the interaction between poly edge repair/alterations and the outcome with SDS added.

In Pe mode if I decide to alter/ remove /rejig edges in order to give a smoother or different topology, sometimes the add edge tool refuses to allow the edge to be added.

There appears to be 2 seperate reasons for refusal.

First reason is that the underlying group of polys are in combination a group (as selected current layout of faces stands) of bad geometry. No great surprise there. I expect that if I delete edges in antipation of putting in new edges, it will be temporarily bad geometry. but currently the add edges tool sometimes just flatly refuses to add an edge.. If the area is very small and tricky to see the reason for refusal isn't always obvious. this leads to exasperation.

possible remedy?.....

Since the edge tool obviously knows its bad geometry hence the refusal to place a new edge, could this information be used to say give a visual indicator that its bad geom and hence the refusal.

For example say have the proposal line indicator that normally shows up prior to second click to lay a new edge, flash or alternate colours... just some visual indicator to show " I am refusing due to bad Geometry" At the minute it just is unclear as to what is happening and why.

The second reason for apparent refusal to add a new edge

Seems to be if a proposed new edge is very close to an existing edge. This one could have same visual flashing, but to be honest I can't see a reason why this is a valid reason for refusal in the first place.. I guess there must be a reason, but it hinders rather than simplifys editing. If this is sortable that would be much appreciated.

Cheers and thanks for all the hard work
