Having just attended my first online collaboration in the animators meeting last night, I thought of something which I believe would enhance learning TS in a very big way. It could also have a load of commercial possibilies for Caligari as well.

I don't know if this is doable.. but it would be awesome if it is.

Is it possible to set up a collaboration room, which is furnished with the main Icons/Tools from workspace..And if that is doable, is it then possible to be able to see the mouse movements, clicks and tool view, of whoever is using that tool. I don't know the tech ins and out of what is doable server/ client side so am putting forward a what if scenario from a purely user point of view.

Overall currently, if someone is showing how to build/rig texture/edit etc a model all everyone else sees is the actual geometry and bones, appearing/moving... not the mouse clicks, drags, and option choices that the editor is seeing.

I reckon that as well as being a fantastic learning tool at the time, if this is doable, sessions could be recorded with say Camtasia and sold as relatively inexpensive training aids with the added benefit that the interactivity of pupils and teacher add vastly to the learning process and the fun learning can be made.

(3DBuzz springs to mind as an example of this teaching philosophy)

I realise that currently the "Projection of prerecorded screengrabs" option might be a workaround for now, but stepping up to an ability for REALTIME tool view as editing progresses would push online sessions up a huge level.

Best wishes

Its possible to rebuild the toolbars as icons. Its not possible to show mouse moves at this time. But that would let you highlight in a 3D mockup of the toolbars which icon was to be used.

Actually seeing mouse moves and icon clicks in the 2D interface is not what tS does though - that's a "shared desktop" scenario rather than a shared 3D environment. However, by recreating the toolbars as 3D objects it should then be almost as good, as you could see just what tool to use, and then watch just what that tool does in 3D space.

It's an interesting idea, that has previously been thought of here, so who knows, it may come to pass some day :)
