PaperVision3D allows for "true 3D" in Flash. It is a very big buzz in the Flash community and recognized by Adobe as a "stunning" technology. 3D assests can be brought into Flash PaperVision3d from tS if it is exported in the "Collada" format.

As a user of TrueSpace and Flash I would be very happy to see my trueSpace objects in flash as a "real" 3D object that I can script for interaction, games, etc... :jumpy:

It would serve Caligari well to be on the fore front of this technology as a way to expand the tS user base.

Examples of Flash and PaperVision 3d can be found at:

If the 3d objects from TS can be brought into Flash PaperVision 3D thru the Collada export of TS, what is it that you need for TS to do? I know that PhotoShop CS3 imports my collada objects with textures, (in some cases even shaders come thru) as well as animation (even animated characters). Do these things not happen in the Flash version?

Just curious as to what you were concerned about.

Daz Studio is free and also exports collada and bvh. Both which are handy if you have saved some moves from it and want to use them in tS.

Autocad also has a FBX, 3ds, collada converter that is available for free.

Flash does not support import of 3d objects or data formats that are XML based like Collada. I use tS to create my 3d objects and texture them. I would then like to export my tS scene as a Collada file that I can then use to import into Flash via PaperVision3d. Once I have it in Flash as a true 3d object I can do things as simple as animate it in Flash (ie a rotating pyramid), to more complicated stuff like make it interactive so it can be rotated and scaled based on mouse position. A web designer could create a 3d web page interface. More importantly for me this leads to game design that is true 3d in flash. Like a game of 3d pong or 3d centipedes. Imagine creating a 3d forest in tS with mountains, trees, and a lake, and then have people navigate through that forest as if they are walking in it! This is possible with PaperVision3d. Today it is easy in Flash to make a 2d drawing and painting program that anyone with a web browser can access and use. With 3d support in Flash a simple 3d application could be created right in flash!

I better understand your comment about my "concern". I did not realize that tS could export as Collada. I thought I was asking for a new feature  . I did a search on "collada" on the forum and have discovered that tS can export collada  So my thread can be removed. Now I may have to go over to the tech forum to figure out why my exported collada from tS gave errors when imported into PaperVision. But that is another story.
