More Codecs

I have been having a probleams in the new version of Premiere Pro with animation I have done in TS 7.51. But when I render it as a DV-AVI in Windows Movie Maker it then plays fine in Premiere on my lap top that I use for editing and video production. I have tried the other compressions and they do not work on my lap top. It is strange that I can re render the avi in W.M.M. and it works fine.

And all the AVIs I do in Premiere have no problems ether. I wonder if the compressions need to be expanded to give us more selections.

I think you can use any codec installed on your system. Just need to download and install them...

I use uncompressed AVI for things I'm still working on and XVid as final for pretty much everything I do.

When rendering out from TS, I use still frame PNGs when I want the background and TGAs if I don't. I don't use JPG from out of TS because the compression is set too high.

Yes, PNG is lossless, and TGA handles transparency very well. If you still want to render out using a codec you will inevitably yield poor results, that is, if you do any re compositing or compressing. I recommend Xvid as well though if you do plan on rendering directly out....another note is that Xvid supports H263 or MPEG.
MPEG blurs slightly, while H263 is sharper, but has more artifacts. If you could find a codec that supports H264, then make sure and let me know...I've been looking for a H264 compressor that does not require me to build it myself(I'm lazy that way...not to mention other than posting here I have no free time).

QuickTime Pro does a great job with H264 and is only 30.00. It is a pretty decent editor too.

Not to steal this thread, but I'm trying to stay clear of quicktime. I don't have a problem with QT, but for my video's that would be causing people to need to install other applications to play the video's. I'm just trying to keep things simple for the end user, so to speak.

It would still be an H264 encoded movie. They would need that codec to play no matter what player they use, whether it is RealPlayer, WMP or quicktime. I use it all of the time, and I play other peoples H264 encoded movies too... QT for some reason scares people on the windows front :). But you are completely entitled to provide for your customers as you see fit.
