The TARDIS is the time and space travelling craft used by Dr Who, a classic British science fiction series that has been running (on and off) since way back in the 60s and 70s (the real Dr Who knowledgeable folks will jump in now and tell me exactly what date the first episode aired).
This is the new style TARDIS, from the current series' since it's re-awakening. The old 60s/70s/80s TARDIS looked different on the inside.
This looks awesome btw, very nice model indeed! It would be nice even if Dr Who wasn't one of my favorite programs.
HTH!
Tom
PS the name is an acronym for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space |

Yay! Doctor Who! He's one of my all-time favourite characters (almost up there with Gandalf The White!).
I'm excited to see where you are going with this Khai - I've seen your work before so I'm anticipating good things - and you're clearly off to a good start.
I've always wanted my own TARDIS since I read the original story way back when I was a kid. |

Actually you are - Doctor Who's TARDIS is a time machine so he pops up at any time - therefore age is immaterial!
(Seriously, if you are into scifi and or British humour you should check out the last few seasons - great viewing) |

Yes you are - they still make Dr Who today, so you don't have to have known it from way back when :)

5.15pm 23 November 1963. Was gazumped by the Kennedy Assassination the day before so was repeated the following week. TARDIS is an anacronym for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space.

Looks the same on the outside, old blue police box - this is the control console on the inside, which has changed many a time over the decades. I'm quite partial to this "time machine" look, with an almost Victorian feel to it, all copper and wood and brass and stuff. I have that kind of look on my website (from before this new look TARDIS, based on the old "The Time Machine" movie of course), eg http://www.tmgcgart.com/html/personal_section_intro.htm (where I actually yak about the design, as it happens)
I like that kind of look, steampunk or whatever you want to name it I guess :)

Love Doctor Who, think in an episode involving Shakespeare and Carionites (sp?) one of the Carionites said something about his name and "Rose" or something like that.
Anyway promising start!:jumpy: Really like it, can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished, even the next step in the process should be interesting.
Did you get the design from watching it much, or did you find info somewhere? |
