Workspace Camera Rotate and Object Coordinate System // Feature suggestions

Camera rotate in Workspace is similar to Eye rotate in Modeler, right?


TS6.6/Modeler: with activated Object Coordinate System and Eye Roate the camera orbits around the axis of the selected object.


TS 7.5 Workspace: with activated Object Coordinate System and using the Navigation Widget the camera orbits around the axis of the selected object.


TS 7.5 Workspace: with activated Object Coordinate System and using the Camera Rotate Button the camera orbits around the World Axis. And not around the Object axis of the selected object.


I would suggest to give the Camera rotate button the same functionality as it had in older TS versions :)

It may be that the axis for you object is at the world center. Try using the show axis tool or moving the axis in model. I'm pretty sure this is mainly a problem for encapsulated objects.

Nope, that's not the problem. Else this behaviour should also happen by using the navigation widget.


Make a primitive. Select it. Then activate Object coordinate system. Rotate camera with using the navigation widget. Then rotate camera with activated Camera rotate button. With the widget it rotates around the axis center of the selected object. With Camera Rotate Button it rotates around the world axis.


Camera rotate button simply misses the feature to orbit around a selected object yet ;)

Alright, then a screenshot. I really need a picture server when it goes on this way :D


I mean normal perspectivic sight. Then use the navigation widget in one case , and the camera rotate button in the other case. With activated Object coordinate system. Which results in the widget case that the camera rotates around the object center. And in the camera rotate case it rotates around the world center.

This may not be help, but...if you hold down the middle mouse button, you will rotate around "any" selection object/PE selection. A double click of the MMB will bring the selection into focus....like I said, not sure if this helps as what you are referring to is either..


1) a bug

2) The way Caligari set it to be, purposely.
