Ok this came to me today. I am not sure if anybody else has had this idea..but you can use the cloth to make some nifty terrain and rocks. Here is a very quick example I did..I am going to experiment more with this. Anybody else please post images to.

Drape it over a bunch of objects - primitives or whatever. (Then delete the objects.)

heh, the uses are endless really, I studied it in quite some depth at university. What was also handy with NCloth (Maya's cloth solver) is you could apply it to more complex models and create crumpling effects, such as crushing cans and such.

Would be great if we could tear cloth!

fingers cross that the cloth solver will be updated with more features, because as it stands is almost useless without the ability to save the keyframes, and the fact that objects effecting it, sort of poke through it, but maybe its my computer

you mean like Scripts obj for render tS7.6 cloth animation to files (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=6043)?
