The render to file in TrueSpace 7.5 is nice , but I can't believe that there are only image files and no video files such as .avi.

Rendering to file with an actual video file would be nice.

I'm pretty sure you can in the Modelside - you always could in 6.6. Not sure because I haven't wanted to do it from workspace but I thought you could.... (I'm at work and I can't check!)

It's better to render to frames and sequence it in a video editor. Though for quick results it's sometimes convenient to render to straight to avi.

If AVI rendering is added, it would be nice to have an uncompressed or lossless compresion codec as an option.

A test rendering to have control over the animation is a must have. And this test rendering happens a bit more often than the final rendering. So render AVI to file with a codec is something needed. Sure, you can render to frames, then create a short video out of it. But that's a few more steps just to have a look if the animation turns out as thought.

You can render Workspace animation to Avi.
Switch to Model.
Select Render to file.
Change Animation to Workspace as shown with screen capture.

For animation render visualization, I prefer a ram based solution that caches the render frames in memory for realtime uncompressed playback and has a scrubber to scrub through the frames.

'course that would be a feature request to add a render buffer to the VRay render window... ;)

Could you please give an example of what "Workspace effects" are not recording? Maybe post a scene and an explanation of what is not working for you. Kind of hard to help when there is limited information. :)

When in Default mode in TrueSpace 7.5 I could turn on the Directx 9 effects

then to the far right at the bottom there is an icon selection, same place where the manual and your graphic setup icon are, there is one for Render to file, when I select file format there are only Image file formats there,no video formats, but I am able to render an image like this.

When I try it your way even though I tell it to render the workspace I get this

What I would like to see are video files when clicking this render to file icon

Because it is not the same as the render to file in truespace 6.6

Ah I see the problem there is the Glass shader used for the Cube. It does not seem to render using LW, Vray, nor VirtuaLight. Workspace's Render to file basically is a screen capture as there is no rendering involved. If you wanted to render that in one of the above Renderers you would have to change the Shader/Texture for the Cube using a compatible material that is supported by either one of thier Renderers. For instance with that scene you could switch to Model and change the material to something transparent and render it using the LW renderer. Hopefully somebody here in the forurms could explain it in more detail for you.

Thank's anyways Trueblue, I guess I'll stick with the images as I found a good image to video software. called "Image video machine".
