I have been doing a lot of models for various projects. And all these projects had one thing in common: Multiple 3D Software packages in use. So crap your procedurals, everything has to be texture mapped.


The "compute textures from illumination" function is not really a help for objects more complicated than a cube, so crap that too.


I can imagine that texture baking is a difficult task, but maybe we have a genius around here that could figure out how to script that.


If there is a way to render a procedural in 3D space, then there must be a way to render it into a texture map. Of course each face must have it's own uv-space then, but that's work that has to be done anyway.
