I don't know how others do it but when using SDS I tend to model a bit, apply SDS to see how its going then remove the SDS, model some more etc. Working this way has advantages, for one in tS7 it allows you to swap between the player and model views without committing your SDS to mesh.


It seems to me it would be great if I could apply edge sharpness to the object before adding an SDS layer - I find I am forever having to redefine edges that I want sharp because of my habit of moving in and out of SDS. Perhaps the edge sharpness could be set in a way that becomes object data rather than SDS data.

Edge sharpness is supported in Player SDS but there is not yet user interface to control it. There is a problem with sds data object - when you change topology you cannot extract what was the sharpness without having additional data stored into the mesh... this is unfortunately not possible, because modeler mesh streams are pretty hard to change.. Hopefully soon it would not be needed to switch between player/modeler for point edit/sds
