I'm a fan of the Stargate series, so this would be very cool to see in full detail.

It'll be cool to see the UV map on this Jim. It would also be helpful to new users to do a few screen grabs of the UV in progress so they can see how the workflow is done.

This guy should be really nice looking when textured.

Really nice. I wish I could model figures like that. That's something I am going to work on soon.

I have made a couple of simple "Guides" on how to start making a character model and a Dinosaur model, the serpent guard was worked up from my simple character model. The guides are based on simple box modeling if you want to have a look go here (the first two links are broken) :(

It's been interesting to see how you developed him. The added tutorial is awesome. Maybe Norm can add it to the Tutorial forum so it doesn't get lost.

I'm anxious to see how you texture him. :)

Are you going to animate him? If so you might want a few more loops at the bendiest places - Knees Elbows shoulders etc - to allow the mesh to deform more evenly. He looks great so far.

Not this version I am making him as a static mesh, you are absolutely correct about the extra loops,I will give him an improved anatomy before animating.

Thanks

Great work so far

Any plans to model a Teal'c head to fit in that Jaffa armour?

As you aware Jack owning UU3d for over 5 years it comes as shock to the system using anything else. :)

UU3D is a great little app and has a lot more functionality than TS's UVE. It'll be interesting to get your feedback on workflow issues and improvements you'd like to see to the Workspace UVE.

Couple of things that will make developing a workflow easer:
1.) Selecting vertices in Mesh Edit mode will select all the UVs associated to that vertex. You need to exit Mesh Edit mode to select a UV without also selecting it's "sibbling" UVs.

2.) In 7.6 you can now use the Infopanel to manipulate UV projections and selections in the UVE -- rotation, scaling, translation.

Hey Jack does the Workspace support layers?

No layers in the workspace at this time. (PS I'm assuming you mean layers in the scene, containing different models in each).

HTH!

I went back over to the "Model Side" and managed to make planar projections of front and backs of each of the objects that make up the model, this should allow further work to be done on the parts in the UV editor I will let you know. :)
