Hi folks.

We're having another scriptor meeting tonight.

http://www.caligari.com/birdsofafeather.asp

How to connect:

1. Click the Shared Space icon in truespace (the two eyeballs) in the lower right hand corner.

2. Type this in the top text edit window of the Shared Space dialog window that opened (you need the two forward slashes - thanks trueblue! )

//tpportal.caligari.com/1212

Now, login.

You will be taken directly to the Scriptorium, where the meeting is held.

So bring your LE and scripting questions.

Well that was a lot of fun last night! :banana:

There were quite a few folks there. Thanks for coming everyone!

Robert Plante ('Z') was demonstrating his Improved Orbit Script. Very Nice Robert!

Then we started brainstorming about the use of animation clips as a substitute for timers in shared space. Very interesting idea Norm! Norm created a script object and exported an attribute, called ClipIntegerIn, I believe. By doing this, we could actually keyframe that attribute on the script object. Now THAT was cool! I didn't know you could do that. In order to do it though, we had to select that attribute in the Keying Panel.

I had to leave before the conclusion of the meeting, so I am not sure how much progress was made. If anyone could fill us in on the result, that would be great!

IK Handel mentioned awhile back using Skype or other applications for voice communication in shared space, which is a very good idea. So, for next week, it would be good to use Skype for voice. That would also make coordinating efforts a lot easier for everyone involved.

Have a good one!

Well my Advanced Orbit Script is here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=6701) if anyone wants to take a look at it.;)

All that you missed froo was that we couldn't quite get the script to play the animations in the way we were hoping, and so a few of us (or maybe just me:p) will be working independently to try and sort it out by next tuesday.

The other thing that was happening had something to do with texturing a cube, not sure how much progress was made there as I am not certain what the goal was.

Skype is a good idea, I just redownloaded it and my skype name is zukazamme, surprise surprise:D, and hopefully we will take advantage of it this coming tuesday.

On a side note I got the name zukazamme from a book, it was orignally Zuka 'Zamamee from the Halo book series and I misremembered it and stuck with it, another fun fact, that may seem arrogant:o, is that I'm 17. Actually I was wondering if anyone knows of any good colleges for this type of stuff.:cool: (probably should ask that somewhere else)

Anyway free fruit!!!

Thanks for the update Robert. Much appreciated. :)

Zukazamme... pretty cool name. I was having trouble typing that name quickly so that's why I asked if I could just use 'Z'. hehe :p Thanks for that! It makes typing much easier.

I'll have to double check my skype name. It may be frootee; not sure; better double check!

Update: not sure how to get the script to play an anim. clip. In fact I don't know how to play the clip without going to 4D view.

RsTime.Play() should do it

One problem with that though, specially selected clips are not playable, only time can be started and stopped, not selectively controlled. This puts the idea in the ground as far as I can tell, unless someone finds a way around this somehow.
