Hey, folks. Just an update here.

I've pretty much finished a shot (it still needs some processing to make it look as though it's being viewed through a video camera color viewfinder). This was a pretty complex shot involving a lot of animated zombies, a tank, the tank firing, and a collapsing column when the tank shell hits a target. In three stills, I'll describe the shot:

(bear with me... I've never posted an image on these forums)

Cut from actor who is using a camera as a makeshift telescope to see what's going on after a lot of gunfire has been heard. By this point, they are aware of the military presence and the zombies. So, this comes asd no real shock. Anyway:

After a firefight that ends with the soldiers being overwhelmed (except for the tank crew), the zombies are milling around, eating soldiers and such. The tank begins firing (the zombies are nonplussed about the whole thing).

Shot 1: beginning of the camera zoom showing the zombies from a distance.

Shot2:the tank fires.

Shot 3:the column collapsing.

Shot4:just a shot of some 3d flags...most of the flags in the shot are generated in TS with clothmotion.

To touch on a few points regarding the shot:

-well over 60 elements.

-smoke and fire generated in PPFX

-column collapse using TS physics

-the shot is flipped so the digital matte painting needed to have signs flipped as well. I ignored a few because I felt, though probably important, someone will want to nitpick when the movie is done and I gotta leave them something. :)

-many zombies were done in poser, but a few were done in TS (thanks, Mr.Bones).

-The tank is a slightly modified Virtual Calidonia Sherman tank, used with permission.

-Approximately 40 people were painted out of the matte painting source images.

-All deciduous trees were replaces with conifers to save me the task of painting out every @#!! leaf.

-All vehicles aside from the tank and the far distant ones came from BKP car collection and were rendered in TS 7 with HDRI.

OK, not meant to be self congratulatory, just glad to get this shot as far as it is. Next phase, making it look like it's on a crappy viewfinder. :)

Thanks Scotty. I made a mistake... the truck wasn't from BKP, I don't think... I think I pulled it offa 3D cafe.

I wish I could post the video because it looks a lot better in motion, but I expect the file is huge (I've only watched it on RAM preview in After Effects, so I'm not sure how big the file would be).
