I'm liking the one I can't see over the one that is not there :)

I can't agree Rich, I think the one I can't see is a bit busy while the simple lines of the one that's not there aren't.
:D

Being a minimalist-I like them both the same...
Saying that, is the red cross in the right image a little bigger?

But can't you see that the business is really just a metaphor for our daily lives?
I love it! |

My vote's for the 2nd 1. To me the 1st 1 looks too out of place/character to the model. |

Out of the two, I would say the second one also. The first, with the nebulae, overpowers your models and causes them to fade into the background. It looks too flat.
Maybe if you tried to combine the backgrounds? Try compositing in the nubulae into the lower right corner of the second image? |

:) I'm I the only one who feels exhausted from watching that dancing banana?
Hi Col - still working this image I see - go you Dude! Listen to the words of the wise - the nebula is TOO too much - your merry-go-round gets 'lost in space'. The simpler background works much better IMHO.
Maybe a few more stars, perhaps look at your bumps for the asteroid as Johny suggests. Otherwise it's looking sweet.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
Oh and welcome to the new forums!
CU soon.

Hi Mate
I hope I'm not raining on your parade but I still prefer the simple starscape. Why? Several reasons:
The nebulae look so cool they take the eye away from the subject - your merry-go-round.
The words you are using as merry-go-round horses are reall what sells the idea of your original metaphor - Life is a merry-go-round - and they get lost against the busier backgrounds.
I am personally a bit picky with a lot of 'space art' - I know that if I looked out of the window of my personal spaceshap and saw your carousel it would look pretty much as it does in your images (I imagine without atmosphere in space it may look somewhat more contrasty) but the nebula would NOT look like this. These are specially doctored photographs which, whilst undeniably beautiful, do not match what the naked eye would see in space. I look at these nebulae and see "colour corrected, Hubble telescope scientific image used as background" rather than a convincing image of a carosel drifting in space. Of course I've been interested in Astronomy since I was a kid - us southern hemispere types are blessed with interesting skies and less pollution than our northern friends:) and as such I have fairly stringent requirements for my space art.
I feel comfortable saying all this to you because I'm confident that you will ignore what does not seem relevant and do it your own way anyway - which is exactly as it should be!
Finally, I have yet to formulate an opinion one way or the other about these new forums - I really liked the old system as every post came to my inbox and I only needed to visit the forums themselves to see specific messages - this new forum seems like I have to spend a lot longer searching to make sure I see all the messages - which can be a pain at 36 Kbps on dial-up:rolleyes:
It's probably just that I haven't yet figured out how best to use them for myself. Time will tell.

I still like the 2nd one. If you're concerned about the background volume having enough interest, you could try putting a simple starfield back there without too much color variation. I'd still keep the slight bluish tint that's not quite black because it makes your centerpiece stand out. The top one does seem to lose it a bit in the background because of the similar reddish-yellow tones. |

Oops! Guess I actually have to look at the 2nd page before responding :) These new images are pretty nice but I still think the simple starfield approach is best. |
