This is a concept art of an HD video recorder. It records HD video via HDMI and Audio inputs on Compact Flash cards or to an hard disk through an USB cable. The device uses a proprietary professional codec.

Created and rendered in tS7.6 modeler side - V-Ray Renderer.

Nice work Emmanuel, is this a commissioned piece or a personal project?

Very smart, I've always admired these more 'product' type shots which I've never been able to pull off effectively. Looks like a nice piece of equipment too. Only thing that I wondered about was whether it was possible to make the display look a bit more like it was illuminated - it should emit a little light?

Thanks for the comments :)

@Splinter : this is a voluntary project. Cineform is a small company and I am glad to help with design studies for such cool projects.

@Nez : good suggestion, making the lcd material a light emetter would render even more realistic !

@Johny : that recorder is not for sale yet.
There is just a few HDMI recorders available at the moment. Here is one of them. (http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=4306)
And as you can see, its design is crying. It really needs some trueSpace designers touch. A parallelepiped with rounded edges design is not up to the enclosed technology level !

Emmanuel, I prever your portable HDMI video recorder design with LCD view display rather than Gefentv design. Because without LCD display I think HDMI recorder only usefull as schedule TV recorder. Sad TV program here still on PAL system.

Is HDMI recorder can use to record copy protected content of TV program?
If HDMI video recorder can not record protected content of TV program, I'm not sure many people agree to buy it. This is because all HD HandyCam and digital camera have USB connector for transfer to computer for editing and burn to CD/DVD Rom.
But people can take portable HDMI Video recorder with LCD display together with Canon EOS 50D when they on traveling. :)

Yes, that's the trick !

Today's HD camcorders have HDMI outputs capable to display "in live" an uncompressed video signal to HD monitor, but they record on their tapes/DVDs/Memory cards a video damaged by a compression codec that kills HD potential.

With a portable HDMI recorder, with the right codec, you may get a quality close to professional XDCAM camcorders using your 900$ HD camcorder :)

Very nice work Emmanuel. My only other comment would be that the screen could to with a hint of reflection/shine to show that its glass.

Good job
