Unfortunately I stuffed up (time zones confuse me) and missed putting this in the latest speed model challenge. I though I had another day, oh well.
It's a re-imagined Balrog. |

This thing is amazing!! Did you use displacement, bump, or normal maps for the face and ear details?
Also is that SSS with Vray? Because if it is I'd like to know the settings you used because I haven't gotten it to look that good before. |

It was rendered in dribble with sss and displacement maps. SSS in vray is very nice, but I'm not sure if you could do this kind of effect easily as it doesn't have micropoly displacement. DOF slows vray down a lot too.:) |

Yeah I noticed, I was literally just thinking about getting Dribble about 5 seconds ago, and it seems like a sound investment. |

Dribble is awesome, and is pretty much there as is except for a few little things.
If shader developers get on board with dribble, like tom and others did for shaderlab, dribble could make truespace renderers capable of holding their own with anyone imo.
When you consider that the total outlay for ts7.6 plus 3delight is 50 bucks retail, there's a lot of room for third parties to clean up imo. I'm trying to learn how to program renderman shaders, but it's very slow going. |

Now that is nice transient. Dribble does look to be powerful too. |

Really cool image, like the way that the overall lighting/modd lets you get away with limited body modelling, very neat trick. I'd have liked to see something more done with the eyes and tongue in terms of shaders as they look a bit flat by comparison (just my opinion) - the body is awesome. |
