Been messing around getting to grips with the new software, using some scenes I created earlier. Here are a few quick renders.
early days yet, and comments welcome

Your samples values are set too low. All three renders exhibit excessive blotching as a result. |

Not to bad Chris for your first tests with Vray. Look forward to seeing more.
Marcels VRay course is pretty good and has a lot of useful information, if you have a few bucks to spare.
Cheers, |

The images were intended as test, and a need for speed is the reason for the blochy renders. I just want to get an idea about the general lighting effects before I increase the quality.
I'm definitely considering Marcel's course, to bring forward my understanding of the ins and outs of vray, without resorting to too much trial and error.

Marcel's course is outstanding, it would have taken me a very long time to figure out what is plainly shown in course, plus it is a fun course as well. Very good quick images chrisJ and very glad to see you rendering again :). |

another test render (and yes, the samples are still set low for speed). Working here on getting the light as realistic as possible.

Sweet! I've said it before, you could have a bright future in interior design! This is lovely (oh yeah, and the cleaner deserves a raise!):D |

good feedback chaps.
dont know why I produce so many interiors, but I suppose it's that I can fill them with all sorts of bits 'n' pieces which are a challenge to model. Sometimes I feel exteriors are just exercises in texturing, the dirtier the better it seems, and I prefer to work with structure and light (bit pretenious that last statement). Keep it clean, I say

Made a few alterations. I want to leave this one relatively uncluttered

What's with the weird lines in the shadow at the top of the arch in the foreground?
Damn fine piece of work though...:D |

Nice work - sometimes less is more. If I was making this picture I would not be able to resdist putting a face in that far off mirror - buts that's just me... |

The colors aren't my flavor :D but the lighting is great. |

Perhaps it's the minimal texturing (or just the web jpeg), but the whites in the image almost all look 'blown out' and featureless. Other than that, really nice!
