Hi.im using an area light in a scene but the shadows seem dark.is there anyway to change the intensity and make them softer?

The best way to make shadows less dark is to copy the light, turn off shadow casting, and reduce the intensity. This lets light into the shadows and prevents them being dark. Or you can add other lights to simulate light bouncing around in the scene, such as infinite lights (as they are low cost in processing).


Area lights should have soft shadows since they are actually just an array of omni lights "under the hood". You may need to adjust the resolution of the area light, or its distance from the subject, or the scaling of the scene. Not sure if you need to have mapped shadows enabled, those usually give a softer edge.
