Hi
Thanks to all for all the detailed explanations on textures & UV, very helpful, I'm actually making some progress now. :-) I figured out how to apply a bitmap to one face of a cube, but having problem selecting selecting those faces in UVE. When I select faces in PE mode that have original TextureBump they are also selected in UVE, but when I select any of the faces that have a bitmap they are not selected in UVE. Maybe the screenshots will help. Is this is a case where the converter for GIMP Jack said I would need to convert greyscale to bump would apply? (Just a wild guess, I actually don't really know!)
Thanks!

The UVE displays by material. Each of the different textures is a different material. So you need to use the "Previous"/"Next" buttons on the panel to cycle through the materials.
Hope that helps! :) |

Thanks Jack, previous/next....simple enough!
Regarding the gimp plugin, there were two files at the link you gave me. I'm assuming the win32 binaries is one I should be using, or do I need both?
Sorry, not sure, wasn't expecting to see two files there.
source (tar.bz2)
win32 binaries (.zip)
Thanks!

Just need binaries. The source is if you are going to start writing code for GIMP, but I doubt you want to be going there :)

You don't need the source code unless you plan to make changes to the plugin and recompile it... ;) |

Ok got it & installed it, thanks!:)
Jack, your Specular shaders, I downloaded to my desktop, I should just drag n drop the file(s) into TS Main Library folder, correct?
Thanks!

You can create a folder to store them and add it as a "New Library Place" or you can drop them into an existing library.
Also they can be dragged from any windows file browser directly into the Link Editor if you like. ;) Then you can save them to a library or CTRL+drag them onto your object in the 3D view. Lots of ways. :D
Oh yeah, and don't for get the File->Load approach from the File Menu. :) |

Hi Jack,
I think the file I downloaded from the thread link you gave me may be just an update? I created a folder in RS Main Libraries directory using windows explorer, then drag/dropped the downloaded file from my desktop into that folder. When I open library browser in TS & double click to load it there is only one file showing in the library stack, "SpecMappedBlinn 160kb".
Don't know if there's only supposed to be one file, it wasn't a zipfile download, so I think maybe I got just one updated file? If so, could you please post the correct link that has the rest of them so I can download. Did a search on the forum but could not find it. Thank you very much!:)
