I'm in the organics course where you select the sphere and click drag to draw the sphere for the fish eye. In the video, Jack is in the "nearest ortho" view when he draws the sphere. After I drew the sphere in that view, the only thing visible in front of the fish is the widget, the sphere is not up front, it's behind the fish. I can only see it if I rotate the view around so I can see the back side. After messing with it a bit I decided to try switching back to "perspective view" and was able to re-draw the sphere so it showed up in front, then switched back to nearest ortho view again to get it to look like the scene does in the video. At least I can continue on for now. Maybe this is a difference between older version and 7.6 version? Any thoughts? Thank you!

LOL, it's been so long since I did the video that I can't honestly remember how I did it. I think I placed it in the perspective view so that trueSpace would apply put the center of the sphere directly where I clicked on the mesh, then switched to orthographic to re-size it. The important thing is to start your click drag at the point of the fish mesh where you want the eye to go.

Since it's a separate sphere, it's not really a big deal though you can move it to line up after you've created it. The main purpose of the eye sphere is to provide a guide when modeling the eye socket. ;)

Thanks for the reply Jack

At first when I tried to draw the sphere in nearest ortho view I was surprised to see just the widget there and no sphere!?? Had me going for a minute there I thought the primitive tool wasn't working,, then I rotated the view and found it around the back side of the fish head!:D The fish can see now! All set..:)

It's a cool project. I had fun making it, but there's still so much left to do! Was limited to 90 mins and I ran out of time with the Microsoft merger pending so the rigging, soft paint, and UV mapping sections didn't make it in. :(

I'll see about making a short UV mapping tutorial for you guys some time in the near future since I know that help a lot of people improve their work dramatically.
