Hello. I am trying to work my way through Organics modeling course. However all the instructions are for a previous version of Truespace. I can not get passed Ch1.3_Image_Template because the material that I am asked to load onto the panel does not display as in the example. When it comes to loading the image of the viper fish the image does not display either. So I have nothing to work with to make my model. Is there an updated version of the tutorial or workaround.

The material editor was changed in 7.6. You need to apply the material to the plane using the funnel icon on the material editor for it to show up. Note you will also need to reset the active material by right clicking on the material ball in the material editor before creating the primitives, or they will show up with the Viperfish template on them as well. ;)

You can get the template image into trueSpace using the file menu if you're having trouble figuring out how to do it with the library.

When I choose the red funnel icon in the material editor the library panel with the material is replaced with a material editor panel that does not have the material I need to put on the panel.
I am not sure what you mean about "resetting the active material by right clicking on the material ball in the material editor before creating the primitives". Either Turespace is to complicated or you're too far ahead of me. The video tutorials will be of no use if the information there giving conflicts with present knowledge. Are there no up to date video tutorials on version 7.6.

I had no problem setting up the new library for the project and getting the template image into TrueSpace.
The problem I am having is I cant get the material to display as many tiles as in the example( if that matters) and when it comes to Ctrl Click dragging the fish template onto my panel it does not show. Which means I can not continue with the tutorial.

Nope you don't need it to display as many tiles, that was because previously the UV mappings for primitives weren't very good and they were improved in 7.6. Infact you'll probably be able to skip the UV step entirely since the fish template should fit the plane automatically when you apply the material in 7.6.

The steps to apply the constant texture material to the plane from the libarary would be:
1.) drag the Constant Texture material onto the plane.
2.) Click the inspect tool to open the Material Editor and click on the plane to inspect the plane's material. (Should be the Constant Texture material. ;))
3.) Either:
a) drag the viperfish template image into the Link Editor then control drag from the resulting Viperfish bitmap object's title bar to the square on the constant texture with the texture bitmap on it.
or b.) CTRL click on the texture bitmap on the Constant Texture material in the panel tab which will bring up a file browse dialog so that you can browse to and select the viperfish template from the harddrive.
That should load the viperfish template image into the Constant Texture material.
4.) Then select the plane object and click the orange funnel icon in the Material editor to apply the new material to the plane.
5.) To reset the material before creating the primitives for the fish, right click on the big material preview ball in the Material Editor. It will return to the grey default material.

If you're still stuck, post a screen grab of where you're at, and I'll doodle on it to illustrate what you need to click on. :)
