Is there any way to hide objects during the modeling? I'm working in model view and have quite a few objects, and I would like to make a few of them invisible while I model those nearer the centre. Is that at all possible?

Hello ictteacher

Left-click on the 'Scene Editor' button in the upper left corner of screen ( 1 )

Right-click on the object you would like to adjust, choices appear. Work your way down to the one that says 'visible' ( 2 ). Click on it and the object will become hidden. Click on it again in the future and it will revert to visible again.

That's it.

A quick visual:
18710

tS gives you a couple (more) ways, as usual.

In Model:
Right Click on Object Tool.
Click render options.
Tic invisible checkbox.

Hint: to quickly show all hidden objects (hidden via the invisible checkbox), click the 'Unhide All' icon:

-Or-
Use layers:
Click 'Add new Layer'
In Object Info panel, click the dropdown Layer list and release mouse onto desired Layer. Selected Object is now moved to new Layer. If you have different wireframe colors assigned to different layers they will change color.
To hide a Layer, click and hold on Layer icon and release on 'Hide Layer'

Workspace Method to follow.

Workspace:
18711
Open Stack.
Under 'Scene' click 'Show Object Attribs'
Under 'Object Render Attributes', click and hold on 'Default' and choose 'Advanced'
Tic the 'Invisible' box.
Unfortunately, not hotkeyable.

In the 'Default' panel you can also change the 'Opacity' to make an object effectively invisible.

For workspace 'Layerz', see this post. (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=89619&postcount=1)
