This "oldtimer" would like to know... please --

Am using tS 2.01a - love its clean purity of interface; have tried 7.6 and, uh... minor success therein, so perhaps you can help my small work pipeline?

Am bringing over from tS 2.01a to tS 7.6 either a .cob item, perhaps an entire scene; I wish only to take whole item - i.e., the ship in this case or anything, really - and save it out most likely as a 3ds file. Said file/s then go to Milkshape 3D, where it's output as Ogre mesh file for a game I'm helping with.

----

I assume/hope, by now, that tS 7.6 has simple Select All and Group or Glue All elements together, so one can just quickly take resulting final object onto next step. (?)

----

Any help, vastly appreciated.

Thanks, (Pat) - a 2.01a stalwart who sensed tS author's genius at work, even back then. ;-)

On Model side, you use selection rectangle (hold ctrl, then left click and drag) to select everything in a scene - be sure not to include lights etc though, you might want to delete those, as they won't export. You can then use the Glue tools to turn them into one glued mesh, ready for export. (If I remember, this was possible back in tS2, but been so long since I used it I can't say!).

You can use the Link Editor in tS7.6 to group things too, again with rectangle select (again, hold CTRL and left click and drag). Then you can use Encapsulate in 3D, the workspace equivalent to the Glue tools.

There has been some talk of making a select all script (for the workspace), I've seen it on beta forums, not sure it got posted here or not, a search might uncover it, as other people were asking for similar functionality.

Tom,

Many thanks for your kind reply, & help; will try it shortly & see if I can fumble thru' things. As I said, as I still use tS 2.01a. tS v7.6's a tad different, from 2.01a. <g>

Thanks, again (Pat)

Yes, quite a bit different :) tS2 was my first tS, so I did used to know it quite well! And I can definitely say that things have changed since then!

Be sure to ask any questions that come up, the forums and community are incredibly helpful (that is one thing that hasn't changed in the history of tS).
