Hi,

Can someone give me a idiots guide on how to make a camera focus and follow 1 object? Im trying to get a camera spin round the outside of a house. I just cant get my head round that scripting idea. Is there a easier way?

Thanks,

You don't have to script that. Just use the Look_At tool :
select the camera, clic the Look_At icon, then clic the target object :)

Select camera, choose Look At, select house. Camera will now always turn to look at house.

At keyframe zero, position your camera at (0,20,5). This is assuming you want the camera 20 units away, and 5 units off the ground. Record keyframe.

Move to next keyframe, say 60 (2 seconds in at 30 fps, adjust as necessary). Move camera to (20,0,5). Record keyframe. Camera automatically turns to look at the house, and will do so in the in-between frames too, you dont need to KF its rotation.

Move to KF 120, move camera to (0, -20, 5), record KF. Move KF to 180, move camera to (-20, 0, 5), record KF. Move KF to 240, camera to (0,20,5), back to the start, record KF.

Done, the camera now circles the house, always pointing inward to look at it. You can move the camera by eye if you like, or you can move the axis of the camera to the center of the house and record rotation instead of movement (no need for look at if you do that), or you can glue the camera to an invisible cube at the center of the house and rotate the group, so there are several ways to do it :)

HTH!
