Hi,

My name is Mats and really like Truespace, I have some experience with

old 3D programs.

I downloaded Truespace but I did not have the time to start to learn this

until now. Now when I see this, with all Nurbs and sds, its totally great,

amazing even if I cant use it yet.

So I am probably the last person left that started to used some sort of electrical typewriter to write notepad models in Povray before there was a editor for it.

Well, I got more modern programs but not at all like this.

I was doing putting vertex and connecting them to create poly by poly,

smoothing them for hours to make a model. It is very hard for me to get

a grip on all icons and where to find them.

I had some problems also, I was doing the tutorial in the manual Chapter 4

Modelspace, there was some mushrooms with sds. The problem was that

the SubDivision 3D Control ended up inside the mushroom so I could not select it. I tried to find how you can move it outside the mesh in the

manual.

When I select a single vertex or a single in Modelspace I don't get any

movehandles. I can move it but it jumps in any direction without control.

Anyway...

Thanks for a great program.

The x y z axis are not locked by default so it is possible to move along any of them,to lock any of the axis LMB click on the them.

If using Model side SDS (and I would suggest workspace side instead ;) ) and the 3D control hides inside the solid object, swap your view over to wireframe to get at the 3D control. As far as I know you can't move the SDS 3D control, but been a long time since I used Model side SDS (years) that I am not sure.

3D controls vanishing inside objects was an issue in the Model side, even the nav widget was prone to do that.

Moving vertices etc model side, again if wireframe doesnt show the control, you could try a 4 view approach - with Top, Side, Front and Perspective views you can get control of the vertex in particular directions. Of course, the directions are oriented to the World and not Object as a result.

Again you might look into the workspace rather than the Model side, where the widgets are improved and you should find it easier to manipulate selections (and make selections, and quite a few other things!). The Model side is 3 or 4 year old code, compared to the much newer workspace side.

HTH!

Oh and of course, welcome to tS and its community! These are very skilled and helpful people, so feel free to ask questions, it's a great way to learn, and make friends in the process.

Thanx again,

Seeing my self as a modeler mostly, I started look on the modelspace side,

I just shifted side as I found other great tools there.

I fear it's going to be more questions...

No need to fear - ask away! It's what the forums are here for.

I think using the Workspace tools is much better for point editing, also try using the mirror modeling and that should cut your editing times in half.

Nurbs is only available on modelside. as far as I know.
