I painted an object with the Opal material, but I want it to be transparant.

How do I do this?

This may sound flippant but it's not intended to be - adjust the transparancy part of the shader!

Right, I figured it was something simple like that, but it only seems to apply when I'm editing... when I render it is no longer see threw?

I'm sure I have done something stupid, but considering the mesh, skelaton and animation are all correct and this is the ONLY thing I'm stuck on... could you humor me with a quick step outline or screenshot?

Sure. First though we'll need to know whether your using the Model or Workspace side and which render engine.

This is just a guess, but are you reapplying the material to the object after you make changes to the transparency?

As a note, unless you are in the workspace side and using "Adjust Picked Material Directly" (which is not the default), then the Material Editor lets you build the material, but doesn't actually apply it to the object.

Think of it as a palette, where you mix the paint. You then have to scoop it up on your brush and apply it to your canvas after getting it looking just right!

Use the Paint Face, Paint Object or Paint Over Existing Material tool to update your object, which takes the material from the ME and applies it to your object. Otherwise, you have your paint on your palette, but your canvas remains unaltered ;)

The exception is workspace with Edit Directly checked - in this case, any changes you make in the ME are directly and automatically applied to the material on the object.

HTH!
