I have searched and searched the forums and messing with TS for over an hr now and cannot find an import link/button.

Only import I found was while in the library menu if I right clicked a blank spot in the "Objects- Base" section there is an import. I tried that and tried to import an .x model and it added a DX icon in the Object-Base but I cannot add the model to the workspace or "model" area to try and work with it. :(

Mostly importing is probably done from the modelside which opens up a number of different fromats - off the top I think 3ds, iob and a bunch of others - older formats basically. There is the LUUV plugin which opens obj format items. That is a plugin for the modelside but recently a plugin devised for the workspace calls up LUUv from within workspace.

I'm not real familiar with .x so I can't advise you on that specifically.

Importing X will fail. It is not meant to import X back into trueSpace.

The library import function will only load tS workspace formats (RsObj, RsScn, 2D graphics formats, etc). So it won't load from other formats like X, OBJ etc.

Right now the best way to load from other formats is to swap to the Model side, and use the File directory which will open up a list of possible formats. If you are importing from OBJ (the recommended format for using to import), you should use the included LUUV plug-in instead, also found on the Model side.

HTH!

I've recently experimented with 3ds. If you export an object as 3ds with textures, then on the Model side, you can click on the ts6 file menu and do an open object. It will include the textures as well.
