I'm very impressed by the extremely large amount of training material available from Caligari Corporation on trueSpace, and for free! So much, in fact, that I'm not entirely sure as to where to start. I've downloaded and gone through the first chapter of the Organic Modeling course, but when I saw a reference to UVs without an explanation of what they are, it occurred to me that I might not be going through the training in the proper order. And when I've completed that course, is there a recommended sequence for other courses or training? What I need is an "academic advisor" or curriculum specialist who could suggest to me the order of training materials I should use, so that I'll have the proper prerequisites for any training I take (e.g. basic requirements followed by electives for specialized applications).

Hi rtobias. Welcome to the forums!

let's see... ah here it is. Check this out. It's Steinie's list of helpful links.

The 3rd link is his User Tutorials list. Click the link and it takes you to the tutorium.

As far as an 'order' of which to study or watch, the video tutorials are categorized in order of complexity:

On this page, the categories are: Fundamental, master, Older, and Tutorials.

I would suggest starting with the Getting Started with Truespace7 course.

And, we are all friendly here and are eager to help out. So please ask any questions you may have! Someone will have the answer! :)

Steinie's List is here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=38038&postcount=19).

A compiled list of courses and the recommended order to view them is here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=54903&postcount=9)
(may be a little long in the tooth but it's a start)

My tutorial/link page is here (http://www.spacekdet.com/tutorials/).
(definitely long in the tooth but possibly helpful)

That'll keep you busy!

I still don't know all the lingo myself. Playing with trueSpace 7.6 was my first dedicated introduction to 3D modeling. I still haven't gone over the tutorials yet ! Hands on has been my best introduction.
What I did was to begin learning how to re-shape the given primitives (cube, circle, etc.). This included stretching, "Boolean (Object) Subtraction", "Gluing", and "Beveling". I then thought of an object I wanted to model, put together different stretched primitives (cubes, circles, etc.), and applied different "Materials" to my shapes as I went along until finally I had my desired modeled object or scene.
The "Search" option in the Forum title bar can be used to locate different thread information that may find answers to your questions. I also watched the Forum and learned from some of the others who shared info in their WIPs. If you can't find your solution, ask away !
Here are some images I made to help with some past querys and may be helpful to get going :

All good information 3D... You should replicate this post and expand on it with written explanations. In the Tutorium requests. Then ask Norm to move it into the Tutorium for you with a comments thread. That way people can ask you questions there.

As a new trueSpace 7.6 user, is there much value to going through the "Getting Started with trueSpace 6.6" course before the "Getting Started with trueSpace 7" course, or does the "Getting Started with trueSpace7" course cover the same material as the 6.6 course, but updated for 7?

They cover different things, so both are worth watching.
The 6.6 version will familiarize you with the Model side of ts7. It's similar in function even if it looks a little different.
The getting started with 7 series was produced for version 7.0- things are a little different in 7.6.
What order you watch them in is up to you.
