I have attached the skin to the skeletin of my mannikin. Then I Set Default Pose. I moved the mannikin, then clicked on Reset to Default Pose. The head leaned forward, the toes on one foot separated while the same toes on the other foot moved together and the fingers on the right hand moved back and the skin distorted (see JPEG).

I have gone back to previous stages and doublechecked all joint limit settings, etc., and tried again. I cannot get the Reset to Default Pose to work. It ALWAYS distorts.

Is there a way to clear the memory so Set Default Pose will work to capture the mannikin as it is. Somehow it is "remembering" what never was.

Thanks for any clues.

UPDATE:

I finally realized that the troublesome limbs were those I had created by mirroring. So I eliminated them and rebuilt the limbs without mirroring. All the problems disappeared, including the movement of the head. Given this experience and the other mirroring problems I was having, ( http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=7466 ) , I have decided to avoid the limb-mirroring procedure. If it worked, it would be a nice time-saver, but for now, I think it needs some serious de-bugging.

I've had problems with default pose as well. One trick that I use is to create a keyframe of my default pose. I can then save the animation clip of that default pose keyframe and apply as needed. :)
