Is there a V-Ray trial available? I am interested in buying it, but would like to try it before I buy it.
If not, could anyone compare it to, say, lightworks? Maybe give your experiences with V-Ray? |

That's an interesting query, considering I don't have Vray....or Dribble either for that matter. It's kind of a busy time of the year for asking questions, but maybe something will show up ?
Happy Holidays ! |

Thanks Mr.3D. Yeah, I was hoping to be able to test it out soon so I could use Christmas money to buy it! Anyhow, happy holiday's! :D |

Prodigy has a fair bit of information around here about VRay with TS, you could do a search here and weed thru his posts... that is till someone is able to get back to you with more specific information.

A trial would be really cool, I'm fairly happy with what i can do in lightworks and I probably haven't scratched the surface of what it is capable of (seeing as the last 3 images used the same light setup lol) |

Me what?? :D
Once upon a time.. hahhaah
Time ago was released a trial version of Vray.. but was discontinued. So 7.6 vray has no trial, but i will send this request..
What can i say about vray???
Is FAST.. Like a .... Corvette!! Maybe like a lamborghini but i love Corvettes :D
TSVray version is not "full" like from max version, but has Global Illumination, Caustics, Fresnell shader, Gloss shader, Deep of field, Map shaders and HDRI support.
In my oppinion is a great plugin! |

So, it renders MUCH faster than lightworks? Because lightworks is my primary renderer. Also, is it a lot better for glass? |

apart from some minor glitches, vray rocks! its a super fast renderer, gives awesome results and even a novice such as i can easily get to grips with it and its settings, i am still amazed at some of the effects/renders i can get out of it with just a little tweaking. |

I can also vouch for Prodigy's ambient light. It essentially allows you to lower the first bounce balue of vray's GI while keeping the brightess of the scene. This effectively gives you control over vray's GI color bleeding, something that was difficult before.
A must have if you own Vray imo.:)
Also, I don't really think that vray is necessarily a replacement for lightworks as it doesn't have the massive number of shaders that lightworks has access to, or multilayer rendering. It depends on what you're doing.
What would be nice is a texture baker for lightworks, something that is clearly lacking in ts imo. This would enable you to use many lightworks materials with Vray's mapped phong material. |

Does anyone have pics that compare V-Ray, Lightworks, and Virtualight renders? |

To this, i can tell you the only thing that Lightworks speed beats Vray is rendering Glass.. Don't know why.. Maybe Vray glass is not optimized, has some bugs... Who knows...
Second, TS Vray has a bug not present in the first version 1.0 of TS Vray, and is the Transmision makes some glow effects if you use GI..
But i found a workaround and i think is well explained here..

about the quality? is not possible to define which glass is "better".. |
