Hi all, hopefully someone could please tell me how to replace the 'default' layout with one of my own?

for example, i would like to be able to open up a new blank space that has no lights and save this as a default so i can call it up each time i start a new project

regards, J

Smart thing to do !!!
I created the Grid layout as I wanted it to be upon every startup, saved it as a "scene" file, and placed it on my desktop. Make sure you allocate where you want your new file to be sent when prompted... (I chose my Desktop, and I also copied one for my separate created tS folder in my Documents.

Your best bet is to make a scene the way you want it to have, and then simply open that scene instead clicking at the create new scene/create new space buttons ...

I think that opening your saved scene with no lights is the best simple suggestion.
Just so you know, this is not possible with a customized layout by itself as there is no scene information stored within. When you Generate a new scene and or Restore the default context a script is called that loads the four lights and camera. It is possible to edit this script.
Another option is to setup your scene and layout as you would like and save it as a Project. Projects save the Layout and Scene information.

If you have the lights library open you can just click the preset that deletes all the lights. You can also save a custom light setup by right-clicking in the lights library.
