Hi.when i save a model in autocad to a r14 dxf file the model doesnt come into truespace but if i save it in sketchup pro to the same format it works in truespace.how come?does anyone know of any free convertors that work the same as sketchup pro or is there a bug with truespace? My sketchup pro is only a demo.

Man the answer for this question is something I would love to have!! It would improve my productivity a LOT! I work with Microstation and AutoCad, and not even AutoCad export well for Truespace dxf. For curves it doesnt work at all!! Then I have to redraw all projects I receive inside TS.


Sorry dont know how help you but I think is good to know that we are not alone ;)

DXF is a stoneold format. With a tons of limits. And that may be where trouble comes from. Wouldn't it be better to use a more up to date format like OBJ?

I have a obj plugin for sketchup that allows me to do this but it doesnt translate fully and puts things all on the one layer. Do you know any better free obj translators?:D

Have you imported the OBJ with the trueSpace internal one? Or with LUUV Plugin? LUUV Plugin has a Preserve Groups checkbox in its settings. Which can be found by right clicking at the LUUV icon.
