I have never been able to get Roman's tutorials to work in my Windows Media Player. It is for this reason that I'm running blind through tS. I have learned a bit, but there's still many areas that are lost to me and far too many questions to ask when they arise. It helps me greatly when people post hints of how they achieve their scene.
I'm sure that I'm not the only new user in tS 7.6 to face this dilema. It can become quite discouraging when you can't shuffle through a tutorial that shows the tool sequence needed to obtain your desired mission. The tS manual is also too vague and leaves out a proper tool sequence:
click "here".......drag "there"......count to 10...etc.

It's hard to find the proper step sequence, when you have no music to dance to !
I'm sure this has discouraged many new users from continuing tS.........me,... well,...I'm damned determined !
So....if I start firing off questions because I can't find my easy solution (a simple missed step that is crucial) in my post / thread topic search, "please be kind...and rewind" !

Have you tried playing the video tutorials in an alternative player?

IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/) is one example.
MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/)is another.

Then there's this big steaming pile (http://www.spacekdet.com/tutorials/) of tutorials.

Nice, where's that one been hiding?
I must have forgotten to hold Control while I double-right-clicked on the Tech thread!

Added it to the pile.

I even once mentioned to Norm that the FAQ should be located (you got it...) UP where it says "FAQ" not in the tech section. New users won't see the FAQ where it is now. Most don't even know they have a PDF manual.

MUCH APPRECIATED spacekedet and frootee !!!

I still couldn't get Roman's tutorials to work in IrfanView. Being that it seemed like a continued waste of my time to investigate any other further tutorial, I proceeded to learn tS at a slow pace (it's not too interesting to play with when progress is slow from lack of "at hand" resources.
The new tutorials that you've provided seem to be formatted in .wmv :)

Jack's tutorials on "Organic Modeling" are in .wmv format. These should prove to be very helpul with my hurdles !

All new tutorials are in WMV. Some older ones are too, and should play. There was a short period where Flash was used, before numerous problems were found with that and it was abandoned and we returned to WMV. The most recent courses should have no problem playing in any player, and only the older ones are likely to have problems (but then, they are a little less relevant anyway).

Hopefully with the threads, and armed with that knowledge, you can go tackling more of the tutorials! I wouldn't recommend Roman's ones for learning tools really, they are more of a broad overview of the software, perfect for someone who has never seen 3D before and has just opened tS - however you already have that broad overview from your use of tS, so I'd dive in to the more specific modeling and creation tuts anyway.

The problem is that when a new user clicks on "Training", the first tutorial to open is Roman's. Then, when you go through the long download that uses 100 mb, it doesn't play in the Windows Media Player (which is the dominant format for most users).

The VLC Media player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) plays just about any format (including flash) (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html) as it has the necessary codecs integrated.

VLC media player - the cross-platform media player and streaming server

VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

I downloaded all tutorials available under the link "Training (http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts5/Courses/WorkspaceOrganicModeling1.asp?Cate=Training&Subcate=Fundamental)" (several GB) and although they are in different formats, like flash, AVI, WMV , all those I have tried have worked.

Oh, the forum nav bar is out of date. Training from the main page opens Jack's course, the most recent and workspace relevant. Didn't realize the forum nav bar was out of date in that respect, will get that updated, as Roman's course is not the best one to open with now :)
