Hi!

I created a cylinder(25,25,6) with 24 sides, normalized it's location and then copied it. I made the copy just a bit smaller(24.6,24.6,5.6) and boolean subtracted the inner cylinder from the outer cylinder to hollow the outer cylinder. This works great.

I then made a cube which I made(8,2,5.596) and normalized the cube's location. I moved the cube in the x direction so it was sticking through one of the faces in the cylinder, then boolean subtracted the cube from the cylinder to make a door opening. This also works, however...

What I am seeing when I am inside the cylinder and looking at the opening I made is what I call jumping lines at the interface where the door was subtracted from the cylinder. I've attached an image of what I am talking about, the dashed lines going across the bottom tend to 'jump' as your pov changes.

Anyone know what is causing this, and how to get rid of it?

Thanks!

[Tim]

You could try Point Editing and deleting the offending edge.
(Right click object, select the 'dotted' edge, click the 'Delete selected element' icon.)

Does it disappear when you texture the surface?

How about if you adjust upwards the 'txt Res' as shown in this panel:
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/attachment.php?attachmentid=15629&stc=1&d=1223299825
(Right click any of the 'Draw Objects as..' icons in Model side to show this panel)

It may just be a realtime view artifact and may well be invisible when you render.

I hadn't textured the object yet, since I am still working on the overall design. I did try your idea however and textured the surface. This did seem to perhaps not get rid of it entirely, but mitigated it enough that you hardly notice it(the only reason I can is since I knew it was there before, anyone else would not notice) :)

Thanks for your help!
