Hi

I am doing the tutorial at http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts5/Courses/NewCharacterModeling.asp?Cate=Training&SubCate=Older :

http://www.orbit.890m.com/divided.jpg

The picture below corresponds to chapter 23.
The first picture is what I get when I use the mirror tool & looks like what the author gets.
Though this is not required, I just tried to use the Add Subdivision Layer tool & I get the result divided in the middle.

Is this a bad omen and showing something is not ok, or it does not mean anything much? If it does, how do I correct it, since the middle plane, between the object & reflection seems to be ok, ie. perpendicular?

Thanks in advance.

You are subdividing a 'half' then adding SDS to it. You would need to weld the two halves together before adding the SDS or you get the effect that you are seeing. Nothing wrong here...:D

The two halves arent merged and have a face down the middle, the SDS follows that face. Be sure to use the option to remove the mirroring face.

HTH!
