Hi all,

I find truspace easy to use and and the icons are basically self explanatory, or I did until the free version 7.6. I can't find an export object facility or a save object facility. All I can find is a save scene facilty.

For example, the last version I used was 3.2 and under FILE there was save object and selecting this allowed you to save the object in a number of different file types but I was happy with just saving in *.cob as that was just a save the object.

Also under FILE was export object and as OBJ wasn't one of them, I used to export the object as DXF and convert it. In version 7.6 all I can find under the FILE menu option is SAVE and a drop down list of file types i don't know such as layout files *.rls.

CVan anyone tell me how to export an object to OBJ and also how do I save an abject in truespace's native format which at one time was *.COB but what it is now I don't know.

Regards

Dusty :)

Workspace side features new data that COB and OBJ don't handle - to save an object there, use the File menu and use RsObj for an object, or RsScn for a scene. Generally you can also just save to a library in the stack on the right (the library is just a nice way to display a folder on your hard drive, a kind of in-built equivalent to windows explorer - just right click and use Insert As to choose scene or object)

If you want to save to OBJ or COB, then you have to swap to the Model side. Within the 3D window you'll find a "tS6 Files" which is where you will find the old tS6 file menu that you are familiar with. There you can choose COB.

For OBJ, you are best to use the LUUV plug-in, which gives better results than the in-built OBJ (this was true of tS6.6 too btw, and is why LUUV has been included free along with tS since tS6.6). Again this is Model side, it's a tsx, so use the Model side plug-in icon for that just as you would to load a plug-in in tS6.6.

HTH!

hi TomG, thanks for the help, that also explains the new file types in the file > save menu. I appreciate the help :)
