I added trees from the Object Library and on wireframe display they have treetops, but when I render the scene there are only trunks. When I set render quality to Low, the treetops are rendered. What's wrong?

Hard to say what might be wrong.
Is it possible to upload the scene here so we could take a look and see?

The scene file was too big, so I reduced number of trees (it didn't help). But what's strange, when I add a new tree from the library, it has a treetop as it should be, but after restarting TrueSpace or reloading the scene, the treetop disappears. Can it be something with some settings that I could have changed?

I looked at your scene and somehow your materials got broken for your trees. The tree from the Objects - Base library uses Material Instancing. Where as all of the planes for the leaves share one common material. Same goes with the branches and trunk. I have tested your scene after replacing your trees with the one from the library and it works in Workspace with the real-time renderer and Model with Lightworks. Switching back and forth from Workspace and Model seemed fine as well. Also rebooting tS76 did not affect it either. Perhaps you used Model's Material Editor in some fashion with your trees? If so since Material Instancing is a new Workspace technique, I suppose that it is not supported in Model.

I redownloaded ts7.6, reinstalled and it didn't help. It's the same: picture 1 shows the workspace view with the real-time renderer, picture 2 model view after restarting and picture 3 after rendering. Sorry to say, but for me the tree is unusable :-( must check other objects from the library. I don't know what's going on.

...Try to repaint the leaves with vray material...

I was going to suggest that, but prodigy beat me to it. I'll also look at it in like 2 - 2.5 hours.

On a side note are you Grant Kot from http://kotsoft.googlepages.com?

When I loaded the scene I got the trees, they were just untextured but rendered fine otherwise... when rendered with Vray.

When I used standard Lightworks I got the error, all you have to do is reapply a texture and it looks fine(see example pic).

All I did was put a blank texture on one tree, somehow data was lost between workspace and model when passing over the bridge. So apply your textures in model if you plan to use Lightworks or VirtuaLight.

I got the same error once, but it spread onto whole scene. Thanks for the advice. Previously I reinstalled, but without uninstalling first. When I uninstalled and reinstalled everything seems to be normal. But it looks like a bug :-( maybe in ts8, but will it still be for free?
