These are screen caps of a scene in the Player aspect. First, the normal display, with insets showing the model and some settings. Note that the jagginess of the fan's shadow is due to the wire mesh in the fan.

Then, using the video card control panel, I enabled the ATI "Smartshader" for Direct3D, in this case "Classic"

And here are some other effects: Porthole, Black and White (with "Bloom" enabled) and Stylized B&W.

I expect that we should be eventually be able to program these effects directly in trueSpace. The was no discernable dip in performance with these options on. I did discover some limitations, which I attribute to memory (the lack thereof). Switching from one shader to other causes the video card to reset, and sometimes the message "Rendering is temporarily unavailable" appears in the player window, and the desired shader is not applied.

The video card is the Radeon X800 Pro with 256MB and the Smartshader effects demo a feature of the Catalyst drivers.

Look great, however I do not have the catalyst control center anymore (didn't get on with .net) so I cannot try these. Would love to have the option in player for B+W etc...:)
