In the first picture, note that I have successfully applied a transparency to the plane making a leaf.

But when I render it, the whole plane makes a shadow...

How can I prevent this in Ts 7.11?

If you're using the Lightworks rendering engine, you should try using transparend shadows for your lights. The light on the left has non-transparent shadows (shadow map) and the one on the right has transparent shadows (raytraced).

Accu has almost certainly given you the correct answer - set the lights to use tranpsarent shadows.

Just to add a little more detail, if you set the lights to use transparent shadows then the shadows will always be raytraced. It might look like you have mapped shadows set but as soon as you enable the transparent shadows option the shadows have to be raytraced, so that over rides the mapped shadow settings.

Thank you both!! I just KNEW that was in ther esomewhere, but could not find it anywhere in the render settings.
I had the thing set to ray-traced, but it was still showing.

You have to select the LIGHT, then right-click on the little shadow icon to get where I wanted to go.

Much thanks!!
