Hello,

I am trying to use TS 7.1 to build a model of a store so that I can use images or animations in the online training that I produce for my employer. So far, the construction in TS is going very well. I'm a little rusty (last time I spent this much time with TS, it was with version 3) but getting back in the mind-set quickly.

I need to "staff" my store. So I purchased Poser 6. I've always wanted to try it. Now that I have both tools, I'd like to use them in concert to produce the images I need.

Is anyone else using these two tools together? I've done some experimenting of saving a TS object in a file format (dxf) and then importing that file into Poser. However, so far, none of the materials or properties applied to the objects have survived.

I've also imported a Poser figure into TS but experience the same result. All I get is the figure, with no other material properties.

I've also started exploring Bryce 6 but haven't tried to import anything yet.

Any thoughts you can share on this subject?

Thanks,

PeterH.

Best way I know of is with the LUUV plugin. You can get it free here:

http://www.pinacoderm.com/tsx/luuv/

There's also a tutorial on using it to import Poser figures here:

http://www.render-lab.com/Luuv_1.htm

This is for tS 5/6 so can't guarantee it'll work in 7 but imagine it would.

Hope that helps

Wow, that's great! I've downloaded and installed the plugin to my TS7.1 installation and it seems to work. I've exported a simple test from TS7.1 and imported it to Poser 6. I'll have to start figuring out what materials I've been using and make sure they are all available in the same folder as the .OBJ file.

Thank you!

PeterH

I would think you'd be better bringing your poser models into truespace rather than the other way round? Would imagine that would give much more control over your final output.

Unless I misundertsood you there?

I'd agree with Nez there.

Rather than use guess work, you can find out exactly which materials are used and where they live on your hard drive by opening the Poser figure file in a text editor, it's all listed in there in a fairly logical fashion. Can't remember the extension or give exact instructions as it's been a long time since I've had Poser installed.

1. I'm not sure yet which way I'll do this. Final work in Poser, Bryce or TrueSpace. TS is the most likely candidate because I have the most time in TS at this point. But this plugin makes it very practical to do so.

2. Thanks for the pointer about locating all of the Poser materials used. That will save me huge amounts of time.

3. I already had the plugin? I think you are right. It would explain why it showed up under the TS 7 folder structure rather than where the install put it. In any case, I didn't know I had it until I posted here. This forum is certainly a tremendous help to new users... and more advanced users I imagine. Hope to be in that category someday. :-)

Thanks again!
