Hi,

I've spent the past 45 min trying to move the axis of a door I've modeled, to the edge of the door. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to move them. I know how to display them but can't seem to move them at all. Everything I try, moves the door instead of the axis. Can someone please suggest what I am missing?

Thanks,

Peter

Ok, disregard. FINALLY figured out that I have to normalize the location first then I can move them as I need to. Some days, the simplest things take the longest. :-)

I don't understand why you would have to normalize location first. Maybe you hit the space bar by accident. I created a door, moved it to another location, selected show axis, selected move arrow and moved axis to edge with no problem.

If you click "show axis" and activate another function, the axis is still appearant, but you can't move it. Click show axis again, and you can move it to your liking. No need to normalize it first.

there a few few ways..

the first is
click on axis tool, then click on the move tool..[make sure object tool is active..the cursor arrow icon] ..very simple
or
right click and drag a rotary control..they represent were the axis is as well as rotate the object..
or
for some cases my plugin 'the object panel' will move axis in one click. for others move axis by changing location values when the axis box is checked [rotation too]

.it requires ts5.1 for version 1.4.1 and ts6.6 or higher for version 1.5

Thank you everyone. That was very informative! I recall how I was able to move the axis in TS3 but for some reason, just couldn't get it to work in 7.1. I'll go back and it again following the steps provided. :-)
