Hello everyone,

Can someone tell me how you can tell if a modeling will be good for CAM(computer aided manufacture).

Thanks.

Thanks Splinters,...

for your reply, but I could not figure out from the link images where truespace comes in.It looked to me like step one and step two are truespace. If they are, then, in step one do you do the working drawing in wire mode using the dimensioning tool, and then switch to solid mode as in step two to get the 3D image?

Kali, as far as I am aware, tS cannot output directly to CAM. Most machines use some specialist software that converts the 3D model into data for the machine. As you correctly pointed out, I used tS for the 3D model then imported it into MiniCam that came with my Suregrave 3D milling machine.

Step 1 is a working drawing and only step 2 is TS. I produced this poster to show my students how to use various CAD packages to use CAM in their projects...so far it has worked out very well.

The conversion pack gives you IGES, SAT and STL formats.

Cheers Bobbins, but I did not make myself clear. You would need the conversion pack to get the required format. I just took for granted that Kali would know that; you cannot connect a PC running tS to a CAM machine and machine straight from tS. For that you would need the software supplied with the CAM machine. I find .stl files work well for me...:)
