I have created a bottle and have applied a label using the Material Rectangle panel. It works fine, however the proportion of the label is arbitrary and I can adjust them using the controls in the Material Rectangle panel.

But I want the label to be its original proportions. Is there a way to keep the original proportions of the .tga file other than to guess by eye?

Thanks for any info.

Material Rectangle is a very old tool. I think it was present in trueSpace 2...

It is still available in tS7 and can save time in some cases but it do not allow for precise control. I have pulled my har out in the past with this one :p

I think that you should use the UV editor rather than this one ; or you could simply set the sizes in cm of a planar UV map in the ObjectInfo panel according to the bitmap sizes, and scale it down.

You can use regular UV Mapping, and place the label to scale into the texture file you are using. Using Layered Shaders you can ensure that the bottle is transmissive and glass, while the label is solid.

Alternatively, you can model the label in polygons on the bottle surface and apply its own UV. You can then ensure the polys have the exact required dimensions.

There is no way to enter numerically the size of a material rectangle, so no way to set its dimensions other than by eye.

HTH!
