I would like to open an empty Tripanel and import images to it. So far, I can only find ways in the manual to open Tripanels with an object in them. When the object goes, the Tripanel goes also. I can't get to an empty one. Thanks for any suggestions.

Just use planes & paint the relevant images on them, then put the planes on a different layer & lock the layer. Works better than the draw/tri panel.

Purpose of tri-panel is to allow you to model in NURBs. You won't find the tri-panel appear at any time unless you begin the process by using curve and few rails so to speak. If you have an existing model, that was created with tri-panel, editing the surface would bring back tri-panel.
