Where is the VRay documentation tucked away?

I've found the VRay readme file, but that's all I've come across. Is there more?

Top level of install directory (eg trueSpace7) should have VRay.pdf. It's not all the way in the pdf for the tS7 manual, and it's not inside the tS folder, but instead is right up on top.

HTH!

I see. AndThank you.

I guess Windows' "search" for "documents" doesn't consider a .pdf a document?

If you want to search for a particular file extension, just put *. before it, so in your case - *.pdf.

Hmmm.... just a thought, but do you still have the Search tool set to the same sort of look that has that annoying animated dog in it? [I know you can turn the dog off, but you can also set it to use a Windows2000/classic Search look using MS's TweakUI (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx).

The option you're looking for is 4th from las in the list of Explorer tweaks.

Well, here's the deal:

My first computer, I tweaked to perfection. Maintained it obsessively.

Number two, I loaded up, customized for the most part - but skipped the after-install deep clean-up.

This third computer is in the middle of the floor, with my old 15" monitor on top of the case, has only a few programs installed, and pretty much everything is at its default state. I can't find my Poser 6 CD, although I'm sure it's buried here somewhere. Since installation, several disks seem to have fallen between some cracks somewhere.

Truth is, I just seem to be less and less interested in technology as the years pass. I use the internet only for a couple of bill pays, a message board or two, and email that I keep to a minimum. I've entered the mystery case for "Deal Or No Deal" when I can...but that's about it. I'm always on the road.

When building the latest I was so eager to see how Tron 2.0 looked on it. I also looked very much forward to loading up Flight Simulator 2004. Several months later, I haven't installed either.

So maybe I've got too much clutter? Perhaps I need a pill to get me interested in things again?

Anyway, yeah it still has the stupid dog. I was trying to put the "advanced" filtering options to use when I chose "documents" and searhed for "VRay". I know I could have had more success searching "all files" for "V?a?.*", or "*y.pdf" or whatever...hell, I don't even know what I was thinking.

Fankly, if I were to get rid of everything "computer" I'd have enough room to open a bingo hall!

Well, if you wanna give that stupid dog his marching orders all you need is that option in TweakUI. Not sure if you can use ?s in Windows Search, never tried it. Would be cool if you could use Regular Expressions with it.

I've always liked UNIX things...vi was always my favorite editor...I've always found the "mode" toggle added a bit of an entertainment factor to what would otherwise be a dull text editor...

I beleive Windows does support somewhat of a "bastard" hybrid of RE, maybe the whole deal...I just tried the question mark and it works.

UNIX? I'm a geek, not a masochist. :p Tried [briefly] a couple of distros of Linux, but never used vi. If you want a decent text editor for Windows, you could do worse than PSPad (http://www.pspad.com/en/). :) You can use RE's in that for the Find or Replace tools, which came in handy when I was culling words from a regularly published/updated Hosts (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt) file to create a filter file for DNSKong (http://www.pyrenean.com/). It can also do text comparisons between files, which will be useful when new updates of that file are posted, though I've yet to get round to mastering that feature.

I think it's limited to just * & ?, I just tried \d & as soon as I hit the Search now button it removed the slash. My main exposure to RE's was from creating filters for Mailwasher, which I rather enjoyed [past tense due to ISP having since implemented spam filtering] in a me-versus-spammers kinda way. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alien42/smilies/online2long.gif
