Hi me again.

I was wondering if anyone here has been using TSnet to do rendering much and if it was comparable to or better/worse than having say a multi-cpu motherboard. Actual seperate cpu's on the board is what I mean not the dual corese:) For arguments sake lets say for comparison that the TSnet setup includes two dual core cpus,(one in each computer) and the dual cpu motherboard also has two dual core cpu's on it.

Main point of this is to ask what the increase in rendering performance is roughly of these setups and an average of how well they perform above a single CPU setup.

:p This sounds somewhat circuitus doesn't it? Ok just which setup would be the most effective at cutting render times down the most while maintaining stability? That's the gist I think of what I mean.:jumpy:

Thank you.

It would probably be faster to have 1 computer with 2 dual core cpu's because it would be faster than sending the information to the the other computer over the network. Also, AFAIK tsNet requires each computer to be running trueSpace at the time of rendering, meaning that you wouldn't really be able to use either of the computers when rendering.

I remember using it on 3 computers and they were all different.

type computers (meaning how good they were)
1.high
2.med
3.low

When I did a render it took I think an hour or 2 off from the render time. If you do use tsnet you might want to make sure the computers you use it with can at least handle ts7 because in a way comp 2 and comp 3 couldnt really handle it especially comp 3 but it still knocked off some time. If you want to avoid it ,hemulin's got the right idea. I plan to use it with vray so that means I need the tsnet that works with it though.
